FDA Enacts, Then Amends, Unapproved Opioid Ban
ISSUE: JUNE, 2009
Manufacturing and distribution of high-concentrate morphine sulfate solutions will be allowed under a temporary amendment to the FDA’s decision in March to halt the sale of unapproved opioid pain products. The “enforcement discretion” on behalf of the agency came in response to concern from patients, physicians and health care organizations over a potential shortage of 20 mg/mL morphine sulfate oral solution if the ban was put into effect.

Coming to Terms With an Autism Diagnosis

About four years ago, I was on a commuter train into New York City reading a book on autism my wife had sneakily stuck in my running bag. I still hadn’t fully accepted Gianni’s pervasive developmental disorder NOS diagnosis, and this was my wife’s less-than-subtle way of telling me to hurry up and do it.
